The California governor is being mentioned by Democratic insiders as a possible Cabinet member in an Obama administration, according to Politico. No doubt the Dems would love to bring on Schwarzenegger, and the energy job would seem to be a good fit for any number of reasons. There’s no hint as to whether Schwarzenegger might be interested, but being governor is probably becoming a drag – and with so many budget shortfalls on the horizon, it won't get any easier.

*Former LAT environmental writer Janet Wilson, writing in grist.org, raises the possibility of Schwarzenegger being an energy czar in a McCain administration. The governor was in Ohio today campaigning for the Republican candidate, but his support has been suspect. From the Wilson piece:

AB 32 -- the California climate law -- has yet to be fully implemented, and Schwarzenegger's popularity has sunk amid the state's fiscal woes. Still, California and its toothsome governor could both be winners no matter who becomes president. Both McCain and Obama have said that unlike Bush, they would order a waiver granted to enable California to proceed with plans to regulate greenhouse gases from automobiles.
