More fast food chains are pushing specials, according to market research firm Mintel - and with the plunge in third quarter consumer spending, they appear to be getting plenty of customers. From the OC Register:

Mintel said the following deals are popular with diners:

--Subway’s footlong subs for $5
--Quiznos Large Deli Favorites for $5
--Pizza Hut’s Pizza Mia Pizzas for $5 each (when you order three or more)
--Boston Market meals for $5

Oh, and how could we forget Del Taco's 99-cent Classic Taco? Introduced just three weeks ago, Del Taco has sold 1 million.
