I love hummingbirds in flight but even more I love when they're still. It just seems so improbable. Here's one yesterday, at the noisy corner of PCH and Malibu Canyon Road, grooming its feathers.

The video's pretty wobbly so fair warning there, but the hummingbird starts out so rumpled and winds up fairly impeccable, so it may be worth a few jolts and twitches. And if you look close, near the end, you can see his throat move as he sings that scritchy (yes, autocorrect, I do know that's not actually a word) little hummingbird song.
