Letters on Del Olmo

Gabriel García Márquez and Carlos Fuentes both write letters to the editor in the Sunday L.A. Times remembering and lauding Frank del Olmo, the LAT editor-columnist who died Feb. 19 after being stricken in his office.

How long must we wait before the Times names its next token Latino to its masthead?

With all the highly accomplished Latino journalists out there like Geraldo Rivera, it must be so difficult to choose. That must account for the delay.

Wow, what an amazing tribute to have Gabriel Garcia Marquez write a letter of remembrance. I'm glad to see that Mr. Garcia Marquez is still healthy enough to be writing such lovely letters about his friends.
