Gabriel García Márquez and Carlos Fuentes both write letters to the editor in the Sunday L.A. Times remembering and lauding Frank del Olmo, the LAT editor-columnist who died Feb. 19 after being stricken in his office.

How long must we wait before the Times names its next token Latino to its masthead?
With all the highly accomplished Latino journalists out there like Geraldo Rivera, it must be so difficult to choose. That must account for the delay.
