Cole's photos from Haiti

Haiti photoL.A. Observed reader John Krill (www.photoessayist.net) lauds today's full two-page double-truck photo spread from Haiti by L.A. Times photographer Carolyn Cole. But he complains, why is her credit so small? Cole's name is mentioned only in the standard photo credit type beneath one of the pictures. A reporter's byline would have been much more prominent, he notes in a message to the Times:

This woman risks her life for your newspaper and you completly disrespect her. If she quit your paper it wouldn't surprise me.

Photographers should be given EQUAL credit with reporters.

The spread covers pages A8 and A9 of the L.A. edition. It has no direct link on the front page of LATimes.com, but there is a link low on the page to a Flash display of other Cole photos from Haiti. (The photo above ran earlier).
