Why Liz doesn't get more space

It was bad enough that Liz Smith reported in her New York Post column last Tuesday that the old Perino's building was demolished the day after the recent LA.com party there. You could maybe excuse Liz's West Coast leglady for getting it wrong. But the gaffe also ran in the much-truncated Smith excerpt the L.A. Times Calendar section runs -- meaning that whoever whacks the column for local consumption doesn't read the Times or L.A. Observed very closely.

Perino's still sits on Wilshire Boulevard and it still is the venue for Collage Dance Theater performances tonight and tomorrow. The LAT ran a correction yesterday.

(Nice mention of LA.com's Lynda Keeler in the original column...)
