Big layoffs at KNX/KFWB *

The axe fell Friday at the AM news radio stations, with talk that as many as 20 anchors, reporters and writers were let go. The Orange County Register says the OC and Long Beach news bureaus were closed and gave a bunch of names, including longtime Los Angeles news anchor Larry Carroll. Looking for more details. Update: I'm told by an inside source at KNX that the total is more like 25 staffers and includes veteran reporter (and former KTLA producer) Michael Linder.

* And at Telemundo: Veronica Villafañe has some of the dozen or so laid off at KVEA 52, Telemundo's station in Los Angeles. Among the departing, she says, are weather anchor Toni Romero and Inland Empire reporter Rudy Hernandez.
