Blending of KNX and KFWB begins

The two all-news AM stations (KNX 1070 and KFWB 980) share the same floor on Wilshire Boulevard but a wall, physical and virtual, has separated the newsrooms. The staffs were told today, however, that reporters may now be asked to file to either station. New VP of programming Andy Ludlum told the staff that no layoffs are expected from the partial joining. People were also told that KFWB will start airing more entertainment business news, and that longtime KFWB presence Jack Popejoy will move to KNX and join Vicky Moore and Dick Helton as a third morning-drive anchor.

Add radio: Today's the day Adam Carolla (and sidekick Teresa Stasser) and Tom Leykis go off the air in Los Angeles with the 5 p.m. changeover of KLXS to pop hits under the AMP Radio banner. Carolla says he'll podcast at his website starting Monday.
