Former 97.1 talker Tim Conway Jr. lasted all of a few days on his new home on the AM dial at KABC 790, then was let go Monday after general manager Bob Moore reportedly asked him, 'You’re not happy here, are you?" Gary Lycan in the OC Register:

Conway’s firing came after he told a joke on his show last Friday that was considered inappropriate for the KABC-AM radio audience. KTLA/5 would not allow him to tell the joke, either, during an appearance with Sam Rubin Tuesday morning.

But the joke – about a door-to-door salesman and a 7-year-old boy – was only the supporting player in a drama – or comedy, depending on how you look at – that developed after Conway’s first three shows....

"Bob said he didn’t want FM talk on the AM. They just wanted me to do topics and take phone calls. I told him he would be saving my life by letting me go." Conway added, "I felt absolutely relieved" after the firing.

Conway says he'll podcast a show with Brian Whitman and update things at his website.
