It seems the Pacifica radio station just can't keep a GM. Here's Sean Heitkemper's resignation letter to Grace Aaron, Interim Executive Director of the Pacifica Foundation, after just a year:

Dear Ms. Aaron

With this letter I wish to inform you that I will be resigning from my position with KPFK as General Manager as of August 7, 2009.

Thank you for encouraging me to stay in my current position. However, I have decided to move on and pursue other important interests.

I want to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of a network that stands for peace, education and creativity. I wish you and all of the network staff much success.

Sincerely,

Sean Heitkemper
General Manager
KPFK

Aaron's note to the staff says that Heitkemper, the former GM at KKJZ in Long Beach, "has shown creative leadership, has presided over a recovery of the station's finances and has, all in all, been one of the best GMs KPFK and Pacifica has ever had." Bob Conger, KPFK's Chief Engineer, will be interim General Manager during a search.
