Art of the morning anchorman

shocknek-makeup-bl.jpg
A couple of times in the past year we've told you about former TV newsman Bill Lagattuta's second act as a Frogtown artist. His latest project seems to be taking photographs behind the scenes at Channel 2 of his friend Kent Shocknek, the longtime morning news anchor. Writes Lagattuta: "For more than 25 years, he's been reporting for duty at an ungodly hour to deliver the news in a polished, craftsman-like manner. He's seen numerous management changes, ratings disasters and triumphs, and who-knows-how-many pretty young anchor partners (I've lost count). In the pantheon of ego-driven Los Angeles news personalities, Kent is remarkably grounded, and often underestimated. Yet there he is, morning after morning, year after year, keeping the franchise alive." Shocknek anchors weekdays at 4:30, 5, 6 and 11 a..m.
