Afternoon radio notes *

In my Monday afternoon column on KCRW, I admit to being pleased there is a game 6 (at least) of the NBA Finals so we can see who makes it into courtside seats at the year's most desirable game at Staples Center. Would you be as surprised as I would be to spot Mayor Vilaraigosa in the front row again tomorrow night? LA Observed on KCRW airs at 6:44 p.m. and is available online too, of course.

Also:

  • Joan Rivers was Kim Masters' guest today on "The Business." Listen
  • Eric Leonard is reporting live for KFI News from the Gulf Coast.
  • Tonight on "Which Way, L.A.?" on KCRW: Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky on the county's probation deaprtment, SCOTUS review of the California prison situation, and a tribute to the late Getty CEO James Wood.
  • Singer Jackie DeShannon guests on "Fresh Air."
  • KPCC environment reporter Molly Peterson and senior news editor Cheryl Devall won the Associated Press Television-Radio Association's 2010 Mark Twain Award for Best Radio Investigative Reporting in the Western states for Pumps Under Pressure
