Air America Radio CEO Mark Walsh said Monday he has left the liberal radio network. The Chicago Tribune, which seems to be covering the Air America experiment more closely than anyone, also reports that Dave Logan, the vice president for operations and programming, has been replaced.
Chairman Evan Cohen characterized the management departures as the normal growing pains of a start-up."Businesses have an evolutionary process," he said. "If you're looking for 'Shake-up at Air America Radio,' that's a creation in your own mind."
What I'm looking for is an Air America station in Los Angeles. Their last word on that a week ago was that the local affiliate would be disclosed "shortly." Chaotic first month indeed, as the Tribune notes.
...the company is now being run on an interim basis by David Goodfriend, the company's lawyer... Goodfriend has no operating experience in radio other than a stint as a disk jockey in Beloit, Wis.

Monica Almeida has the perspective of a native Angeleno who photographs Los Angeles for an East Coast newspaper: the New York Times.
i wanted this to go well, mainly because i like franken quite a bit.
but when i read the phrase "lizz winstead will take over programming," i know the bus has hit the f-ing wall.
not having enough stations lined up was the first mistake; allowing themselves to become unintentional comedy through "growing pains" is the second; and i don't want to think of what the third might be.
come on, Cohen! get your S together. after 10 years of media consolidation there must be thousands of talented radio pros out there looking for work cheap. find 'em, fast.
