Right of Way 101

He opens her robe, revealing her naked body. Duvane emerges from a hidden entryway carrying a long wooden case, which he balances on the table and opens to reveal a long, curved knife. He stands beside Rachel and slips out of his robe.

AROUND THE BEND

Napolitano, eyes widening in alarm, can barely hear Rachel’s garbled CRIES of protest. He peers behind him, looking for the cops who are following him, then edges back toward them, shining his powerful LIGHT in their direction. Behind him, the Order’s sacrificial party begins a rhythmic CHANT.

DOWN THE TUNNEL

TWO DEPUTIES and Undersheriff Dallesandro notice Napolitano’s FLASHLIGHT.

DALLESANDRO
What’s that?

Napolitano WHISTLES sharply and calls to them --

NAPOLITANO
Over here!

WITH THE SACRIFICIAL PARTY

Duvane hurries back into his robe. The Guards scurry around the bend and spot Napolitano waiting there as the three cops race toward them.

DUVANE
Back inside! Hurry! Take everything!

Robert and the Technician grab the candelabras as the Guards race to get Rachel and the platform. Duvane is already gone with the knife in its case. Napolitano flashes his LIGHT at Rachel, getting her attention.

NAPOLITANO
Rachel -- the police are coming to help you!

His voice rouses her, and she begins to focus.

RACHEL
Daddy...!

Off Napolitano, wondering if he heard correctly --
