Right of Way 54

REVEAL the crowd: Entirely Korean. Hardcore night-owls, still grasping for stimulation at 3:40 a.m. Deland and Gallardo enter and grab a table. The crowd takes note, as does Rachel.

The song ends. Crowd responds with a smattering of applause. Rachel smiles modestly, departs the stage, and darts quickly out the back door. Gallardo moves after her. Deland heads out the front.

EXT. PARKING LOT - BEHIND THE CLUB - NIGHT

Rachel exits and runs smack dab into Napolitano, who's been leaning on his car, waiting for her.

RACHEL
Mr. Mayor, what are you doing here?
NAPOLITANO
Miss Cover Girl, let's go for a ride.

He takes her arm and leads her to the passenger side.

RACHEL
To what do I owe the surprise?

He opens the door for her and shoves her in.

NAPOLITANO
Don't try to run. I'm nicer than those cops'll be.

He SLAMS the car door shut.

INT. NAPOLITANO'S LEXUS - MOVING - NIGHT

Moving past Korean signs and billboards on the nearly empty Wilshire Boulevard.

RACHEL
You're out late tonight. Don't you have, like, a city to run in the morning?
NAPOLITANO
Oh, I caught a little cat-nap earlier tonight, thanks to your buddy Omar.
RACHEL
(covering)
Omar? Who's that?
