INT. CAR - MOVING
While Sydney maneuvers through dense traffic toward a freeway offramp, Larry punches in a number on his cell phone, listens, then shuts the phone in frustration.

LARRY
You’d think there'd be a cell in Mandeville Canyon.
SYDNEY
Your wife will be fine. The mayor was there, wasn’t he?
LARRY
Russ is the last guy I’m worried about. Celeste goes for waiters.
Sydney slaps Larry on the thigh.
SYDNEY
Tell me, old boy, what do you know about peat?
LARRY
Pete who?
SYDNEY
No, no -- peat. From the boggy marshes and like that.
Larry shrugs. Sydney pulls onto a freeway exit ramp.
SYDNEY
As oil is to California, laddie, peat is to Scotland.
LARRY
Fascinating. So, it’s not finished?
SYDNEY
Do you remember the first labor of Hercules?
Sydney exits onto a lightly traveled Valley road. The car passes a middle-aged guy scooping his dog’s droppings into a plastic bag.

SYDNEY
Before we take on the three-headed dogs of hell, we’ve got to clean the waste out of the stable.
