Right of Way 61

The sound of a SHOWER starts O.S., as Napolitano’s assistant, LIZA, 50, enters with a breakfast cart. As she rolls the cart to the mayor’s big maple desk, Napolitano, in a robe, leans out from the bathroom.

NAPOLITANO
Sam?
DELAND
Don’t forget the body lotion.

Sam shoots him a dirty look and hurries to join the mayor. Deland takes his empty coffee cup over to Liza, who’s setting up a covered breakfast plate at Napolitano’s desk.

INT. MAYOR’S BATHROOM – DAY

Napolitano shuts the door and moves inside with Sam. He speaks quietly, studying his bruised face in the mirror, then slaps on some shaving cream and begins shaving.

NAPOLITANO
You took care of the car?
SAM
I just heard from the owner of the other vehicle. He has no idea you were involved.
NAPOLITANO
Let’s keep it that way.
SAM
I requested a hybrid until you get the Lexus back. Gary Rollins will be your driver.
NAPOLITANO
What about those two?

He nods O.S., referring to the cops.

SAM
Got here at six-thirty. They say they’re not leaving until you talk to them.
NAPOLITANO
They’re wrong about that. Apologize and get ’em out of here.
