The LED on Napolitano’s phone reads, RACHEL DAVIS. He hangs up Rachel’s phone, and the RINGING STOPS. As he ponders this, HEADLIGHTS approach, and he kills the light.

INT. CELESTE’S HOUSE – NIGHT

The DOORBELL RINGS, followed by POUNDING on the door. Napolitano rushes to open it to detectives Deland and Gallardo, who stand ready, weapons drawn.

NAPOLITANO
Took you long enough to get here.
DELAND
Took you long enough to answer the door.

The cops holster their guns as they enter.

INT. CELESTE’S HOUSE – LATER – NIGHT

Napolitano leads the two detectives on a tour of the house, pointing out the locked sliding glass door to the beach.

NAPOLITANO
No forced entry, no sign of violence. I’m thinking she knew the guy.
GALLARDO
What was he looking for?
NAPOLITANO
I don’t know, could’ve been anything.
DELAND
Anything like what?
NAPOLITANO
What, you think I’m holding out on you?
DELAND
I think if you want us to go outside channels, we wanna know what’s goin’ on.
Napolitano realizes he has to give them a little something.
