Right of Way 92

Next to the booth is a small billboard, whose headline reads: MIRACLE OF THE QUANTA. Rachel stops at the billboard and reads.

RECRUITER’S VOICE
It could happen to you.

She turns to the voice. An Order RECRUITER smiles at her. His teeth are perfect.

RECRUITER
Our three founding patriarchs achieved immortality. They made the quantum leap into pure information.

The recruiter raises his hands to the heavens, talking over the SOUND of nearby helicopters.

RECRUITER
They watch over us now, drawing us toward them. Each of us can achieve infinite wisdom.

Rachel tugs at her dress strap, revealing an “O” tattoo on her shoulder blade.

RECRUITER
I should have known by the clarity in your eyes.

He puts his arm around Rachel and pulls her close.

RECRUITER
(whispering)
I can take you to Level Q.

Rachel looks up at the swarming choppers, which are descending. She pushes the ecruiter away and runs toward the helicopters.

INT. SUBWAY – NIGHT

The train is slowing as it approaches a station. Napolitano sits rigidly, shrinking into his hoodie. The two TOUGHS now sit directly behind him.

TOUGH # 1
Where’s your ride, Mr. Mayor?

Heads turn. People begin to watch and whisper. Napolitano refuses to show vulnerability.

NAPOLITANO
The train’s my ride. This is the future of transportation.
