RACHEL
(shrugs)
She had some scam going with Omar. It’s not bad enough she’s jealous that I work, she has to go after my boyfriends too.
NAPOLITANO
She knew Omar before the Brentwood party? Before Saturday?
RACHEL
She knew him since she walked in on us in the guest house a few weeks ago. I guess she liked what she saw.

As Napolitano processes this –

RACHEL
Can’t we just pull over and talk? Don’t get on the freeway -- unless... We could go back to the house. Mommy wouldn’t mind.

She puts her hand on his thigh, almost innocent but not quite. The freeway entrance is coming up. Napolitano parks at the curb and leaves the motor running.

RACHEL
Why do you like her, anyway? You could get any girl you wanted.
NAPOLITANO
You think?

She nods alluringly and moves closer. Damn if he doesn’t lower his face and soften just a touch. She parts her lips and they move to within inches of each other. Then he takes her arm.

NAPOLITANO
You’re good, kid, but I studied with the masters.
RACHEL
Fuck you!
NAPOLITANO
Not tonight, sweetheart. Now suppose you tell me what’s going on, and remember, it’s not too late to keep our date with the cops.
RACHEL
