DELAND
You're thinkin' what? Somebody kidnapped her from her kidnapper?
GALLARDO
Just saying, signs of struggle. And if she escaped, then where is she? How far's a bleeding, middle-aged movie star in her underwear gonna get without someone noticing?
DELAND
(apologizing)
He's still new on the Venice beat.

Napolitano nods, checks his head for blood.

DELAND
Maybe he had a partner who took her.
NAPOLITANO
If so, he wasn't expecting it. Omar was shocked there was nobody here.

Deland and Gallardo shoot each other a look. Then --

DELAND
Omar?

EXT. VENICE STREETS - NIGHT

A mall crowd watches from behind crime tape, as Napolitano, Gallardo and Deland approach a group of COPS and a FORENSICS team examining a body with a peat brick stuffed halfway down its throat. Omar.

NAPOLITANO
That's him.

A Forensics Guy examines Omar's handgun and puts it in a Ziploc.

NAPOLITANO
What about the map?

The Forensics Guy has no idea what he's referring to.

NAPOLITANO
A hand-drawn map of the train route. He had it in his pocket.
DELAND
You saying he was planning to escape by train?
